Jeez where do these admins get off harassing helpless users? Here is a log of a conversation after a shout by one of the friendliest guys on FICS, vaporlock:
vaporlock shouts: How do I say 'I hope Castro dies and burns in hell" in Spanish?
AcademiaNut: please don't do stuff like that
vaporlock: like what
AcademiaNut: your last shout
vaporlock: yes what is wrong with it
AcademiaNut: it's argumentative and offensive
vaporlock: you are becoming annoying.
vaporlock: So now insulting a known mass murderer is offensive. This place is starting to suck.
AcademiaNut: insulting anyone just makes things unfriendly here. If you think it sucks that we try to keep things respectful, then I think you should just leave
vaporlock: well Im not leaving. If you think what I did deserves a muzzle, then do it. But I will immediately contact the head admin.
vaporlock: and are you suggesting I should respect Castro?
AcademiaNut: I'm suggesting that your shouts be devoid of disrespectful comments. You don't have to respect all people, but you have to show respect when you choose to chat here.
vaporlock: So you object that I dont respect Castro? Be specific.
vaporlock: how about Stalin can I insult him without offending you?
AcademiaNut: I am being as specific as I can: while you are not required to respect anyone, your shouts are required to be respectful to everyone. In other words, "if you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all"
vaporlock: Can you show me the FICs policy that says that?
AcademiaNut: "help abuse" read the first paragraph
vaporlock: that everything I say has to be 'nice'
vaporlock: I think you should read it again.
vaporlock: At any rate I will not change my behavior in any way whatsoever. You can do as you like.
AcademiaNut: consider yourself warned
vaporlock: I dont care at all.
vaporlock: I will send the entire thread to the head admin woith my opinion that oyu are out of hand.

Vaporlock friendly? Surely you jest. I find him annoying and argumentative, and in this exchange he sounds like a little kid, pushing the envelope to see what he can get away with. I support AN here. too bad he didn't muzzle Vapor. |
