That motherfucker banned me after I told him to back up his claim that I was lag cheating. He started throwing his authority around, threatening to ban me if i didn't shut up. I called him hitler for his dictatorial behavior and he fucking bans me. Somebody post the log please. This is some fucking bullshit. |

TheDane's idea of enforcing abuse is to dream something up, then force the other person to admit to it and promise to stop doing it - and if the player doesn't admit to it then the player gets banned. |

Did not see the event, just wanted to throw in that i dislike the Hitler / neo nazi crap that is being used in the channel lately. If it is meant as a joke, its extremely dumb and not fun at all imho. If its meant serious, its even more dumb, as it is trivializing hitler and the like.
Not that i expect anything to change though.
BTW this is not meant to attack you intox, its just that people used that idiotic stuff a lot lately talking about the Berlin Gathering for example. I tried to convince new people from here to use fics and the first thing they saw is that some 10 year old jerk calls all german neo nazis. |

Marv: if they get "upset" because some 10 yr old call them nazis just because they are german, they better not leave Germany because there will be always some jerk who will call them that. Russians will be "commies", XXXsky will be jew (even when is polish and most are catholics), XXXnov will be rusky when mostly are Bulgarians... and the list goes on and on.
Only way to stop those "10yr old jerks" would be to censor/ban them and some of them are OVER 10yr old in age but LOWER in brains.
It's sad that fuck, shit and some other words are "censored" or can cause censorship while nazi, murder and other similars are not  |

Being called a Jew is not an insult, KW. And if you are new, you dont know who is 10 or 12 and who's not. You just get there and get a warm welcome. No excuses for that, sorry. If you got in a club and people would from the very first moment you set your foot in there start making racist tells about latinos, i somewhat doubt that you would enjoy it very much. |

As the germans were so fond of pointing out, Hitler was Austrian. Yes he was a bad guy. The name wasn't being used in any sort of anti-jew or anti-gay way, it was a comment on TheDane's abuse of power, etc.
(tangent) I suspect if he said "Stalin" nothing would have happened, though Stalin's list of crimes is just as long if not longer than Hitler's.
And as for "jew", that depends on the usage. Theres a thread on it somewhere on bugboard. I was almost muzzled for quoting song lyrics containing "funky badass jew" in a shout which thedane (ironically) took offense to.
And as far as I can figure out, here is how it went down. TheDane is playing intoxicated in bughouse. There is some convenient lag on TD/Intox board. TheDane uses thief, "sees" that intoxicated was lagging, makes some reference to intoxicated lagging, lag cheating, whatever. Intoxicated took offense to this. It escalated because TheDane doesn't have the people skills to deal with this, and then there was the hitler comment and ban.
In truth, it was TheDane who was lagging. Thief's lag numbers get screwy when you yourself are lagging, and either TheDane wasn't clever enough to figure it out or didn't care or whatever.
The whole thing was silly and could have been easily diffused/avoided. Anyway, intoxicated is unbanned now (and getting anally probed by InsaneManiac in 1 0 zh), either overturned or just a 1 day ban, I dunno. Intox?

my point was not that i questioned anyone considers hitler what he was. The point is rather that by using the attribute "hitler", "nazi" and so on in this way, their crimes get trivialized. So if you call an admin Hitler because - beware! - he bans you it can be seen as a very offending statement, because sooner or later it will have a predictable effect on the Image of hitler and the Nazis in that they will be seen as not worse than an Admin who bans people. Really not hard...i mean, do you really consider it appropriate to call someone a murderer, because he banned a user or called him a lagcheater unjustified? Uhm, i think not. Whoever does should get out of FICS asap because he lost the ground under his feet. Now calling someone "Hitler" is about 10,000,000 times worse than calling him a murderer.
Frankly, left alone the Nazi/Hitler analogy - i will never understand why it is neccessary to get rude in such a situation. Calling someone a lag abuser is one thing - and a quite common one - but in no means it justifies a comeback along the lines of "fucking asshole nazi %$§%sucker" and so on imho. I cannot understand someone calling someone else names, insulting him and so on, and afterwards wondering that it was considered unacceptable.

Also how ironic that you would already want to "ban" me just because i disagree with you, yet you are all surprised when TheDane kicked you out. Sigh. I don't agree with what Intoxicated said in 24. However, I believe that if he had been having the same argument with a non-admin, and in the exact same tone, that he would not have been banned. The only reason he was banned was because it was an admin who he was playing bug against.
This is another example of admin abuse of power. Why is it that when the person happens to be an admin that it results in a ban, when the rest of the time it is allowed? If the term used was the problem, then shouldn't he be banned if he uses the same tone against a non-admin who felt equally offended?
Further, this is another example of extreme admin inconsistency. A few admins ban for use of such language against them, while others don't even consider giving a warning. Where is the consistency?
I also thought there were reasons for channel 24 muzzles, but apparently the ban command has replaced channel 24 muzzle. The ban command has also seemingly replaced the censor command for admins as well. |

Seip: your age and naivete shows in you message. DO you really expect "consistency" (almost as ludicrous as to expect common sense) from somebody in charge of anything?? How about this: when you call FAG a "non-homosexual" they laugh and say "screw you", but when you say that to a "in the closet" homosexual you can expect banishment, harrasment suits and the like.
SOME of the admins ARE dictatorial, out of reality with their power, totally irrational and THOSE are the ones that will ban you for looking crooked at them! And if you challenge that power... even worse!! 
The other ones, will just say "screw you" and keep on their business like if you had said nothing.
I'd rather use more "subtle" insults to those creeps, some even in fact believe I'm complimenting them!! |

Sorry if I have a misconception. In a 10 yr old, i accept naivete. In a 15 or older I call that STUPIDITY.
People who HAVE something to hide (bossy complex, "in the closet" or a crush on somebody) react strongly when "teased" about it. Those who don't have anything to hide, shrug it off! |

sure its an exagerration, but that's hyperbole what did you expect? As was so eloquently said "get a grip"
